Mature Green Papaya for Healthy Digestion & Skin

Mature green papaya (Paw Paw) is one of the richest sources of antioxidants up to twenty times more powerful than Vitamin E!  Your skin is the largest organ of the body and also the last one to receive important minerals, nutrients and water, after all other organs are nourished first. So the quality of your skin is a good indicator of the quality of your digestion.

Fermented Papaya Extract is a source of Potassium, Magnesium, Iron, Zinc, Beta-carotene, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin C, Vitamin A and important enzymes. These enzymes help to break down and digest proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Papain is found in the green mature papaya, and is a powerful Proteoltic enzyme which can digest protein whether in an acid, alkaline or neutral environment. Through the fermentation process of Papaya it becomes probiotic with lactobacillus and Acidophilus created which help to maintain a healthy intestinal tract.

Why might you need help with enzymes in your digestion?

Experiences of stress or trauma, whether it be big or seemingly small, have a direct effect on your digestion, and how well you absorb and assimilate nutrients. This is because during stress where your body perceives an immediate danger, it needs to switch off certain body functions in order to carry out how it responds to the stress, such as digestion. Switching off digestion then inhibits the release of important enzymes from the pancreas, and the production of Hydrochloric Acid which helps with the digestion of food and keeps bad bacteria neutralized in the gut.

When hydrochloric acid is low, this lowers the body’s immune defense system, the balance of bacteria in the gut is disturbed opening up susceptibility to viruses and bacteria, digestive sensitivities, skin conditions, allergies and conditions such as irritable bowel. Stress also blocks the use of important minerals in the body such as zinc and magnesium, and without these minerals the body’s immune function and detoxification becomes further impaired, leading to inflammation, chronic conditions and skin problems such as acne and eczema.

Stress is a neurological response, and sometimes these stress responses don’t switch off, the stress is held at a cellular level and digestion remains impaired. So what can we do?

Stress patterns, though you can’t see them as a physical matter such as blood or water, are stored within the body in the energy system. Kinesiology is able to locate the stored stress, through muscle testing to access the neurology within the energy framework. Once this stress is located and corrected energetically- whether it be via a meridian, gland, muscle, lymphatic points etc the body is able to restore its natural functioning again. Kinesiology is fantastic for digestive problems, skin conditions and stress.

Mature Green Papaya is an excellent source of vitamins and enzymes necessary for healthy digestion and skin function. It can help support the body during times where digestion and hydrochloric acid is impaired and maintain balance of good gut bacteria which is essential for optimum immune function.

Your Skin

Your skin is an important part of how you feel about yourself, and it’s a reflection of your body’s inner balance.  I would like to share with you some of the basics of skin care science, to help you save time, money and have realistic expectations on your skin.

Cosmetics with a “T” have been around for a very long time, luxuriously creamy making skin feel good and ‘look’ better.  The word cosmetic means to change the odour of, beautify or in ancient Greek dress in costume. In skin care terms the word cosmetic encompasses the same meaning. It beautifies, dresses up and covers up deficiencies.

Whether it be a cheap supermarket brand at $5 or a high end product at $500 in a department store or salon, a cosmetic cream is made up of a bulk of 80 to 90% oil and water. The difference in price is usually in the size of the molecules and the quality of the remaining 10% of other ingredients.

This type of cream feels nice and slippy, it usually has silicons, petrochemicals and smells nice with fragrances,  it literally places a film over the skin, feeling hydrating and nourishing. With the key word being feeling.

The minimal amount of active ingredients, whilst being diluted in the oil and water emulsion which sits on the surface of the skin, aren’t going to be able to penetrate into the cells to change the skin. This is the type of cream that most of us would use not knowing any better, particularly due to the advertising of large companies. Though skin care technology has dramatically changed since the invention of a cosmetic cream, a lot of the old technology is still for sale on the market, so how are we to know the difference?

Though advertising will have you believe otherwise, Cosmetic skin care has no evidential active ingredients to make a physiological difference in the skin, with no proven clinical data to back up claims made about the skin.

Unfortunately whilst the cosmetic cream sits on top of your skin, your natural skin function can also become lazy in producing its own natural moisture and oil balance, dehydration can occur, unbalanced oil flow, the product builds up in the skin, as too can the synthetic fragrances and toxins, which can cause sensitivity.

Organic or natural cosmetic creams that are made by herbalists or aromatherapists, usually have therapeutic essential oils and herbal extracts with  a focus on the benefits of aromatherapy in healing the skin. This can be a beautiful self care ritual, balancing for the mind and spirit, and healing for the outer layers of the skin. It may help heal some minor surface irritations, and hydrate the very outer layers of the skin. In a 90% base of oil and water emulsion, it still isn’t going to have a physiological effect on the skin when it comes to the skin cell function or fighting the five signs of ageing. It is however a much healthier choice of skin care than a cosmetic cream that has petrochemicals, parabens or other toxins.

Cosmeceutical skin care means ingredients that are pharmaceutical grade. It contains 50-60% pure active ingredients and vitamins, and 40-50% of it is oil and water. Cosmeceutical skin care has greatly evolved with ingredients and vitamins that have the ability to physiologically change the structure of the skin. Usually they are fragrance free, and if the product is Cosmeceutical and certified organic then it is much cleaner with no nasties penetrating into the skin.

Cosmedical skin care, uses medical strength ingredients and is at the highest quantities allowed before a prescription.  Containing 85-90% active ingredients and being 100% synthetic fragrance free, paraben free, preservative free and with no nasty chemicals. This level of skin care uses Biomimetic technology, having a complete affinity with the skin barrier and being able to penetrate into the skin cells where science takes place. This enables direct access to skin cells for ingredients to normalise skin function.

To fight the 5 signs of ageing, pigmentation, dehydration, acne, sensitivities or rosacea skin conditions, your skin needs to be actively treated with Cosmeceutical or Cosmedical skin care to get the results.

You should also know, that when an ingredient is advertised in a cosmetic brand, such as Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Co Enzyme Q10, Peptides etc. this is going to be a different variation and amount,  to the same ingredient that is listed in a Cosmeceutical and Cosmedical product.  Claims can still be  made in advertising by cosmetic skincare companies, even though there isn’t a high enough percentage of the ingredient, or a delivery system to get in to the cells below the barrier for it to actually work.

Your skin is so much more than what you see on the surface. It’s a complex protective barrier, the largest organ of your body, it’s your sensory system for the body to process experiences, immune system function, transport of nutrients, elimination of wastes, wound healing, heat regulation, environmental protection, a permeable barrier for absorption, protection against micro organisms and synthesis of sunlight and Vitamin D. Isn’t it amazing?
